FARGO3D

Home > Legacy archive > User’s manual > Parameters > AlphaViscosity

When this parameter is defined to a non-zero value, the kinematic viscosity \nu used in the stress tensor corresponds to a uniform \alpha coefficient over the disk (from the alpha-disk formalism of [Shakura & Syunyaev 1973->http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/1973A%26A....24..337S]) equal to this parameter. Its use is mutually exclusive with the [Viscosity->58] parameter. In FARGO, the kinematic viscosity is evaluated as follows:

\nu=\alpha \cdot c_s^2\cdot \Omega_K^{-1}
