The planetary potential can be softened over a length that scales either with the disk pressure scale height or with the planetary Hill radius. In addition, the
force acting back onto the planet can disregard a fraction of the Roche lobe content. Finally, an initial tapering can be applied to slowly turn the planet mass on.
